Cathedral Cove – Feb. 8, 2007

Jonathan being a photo nerd in Cathedral CoveWe arose early this morning to long awaited sunshine to make the trek to Cathedral Cove, a beautiful spot on the beach which took about 45 minutes to walk each way. Beautiful rainforest mixed with evergreen forests, rolling hillsides and sea cliffs and sandy beaches. What a mix!

We got there during low tide which afforded us the opportunity to walk into the cove and archway (pics coming soon! Not all internet cafes let you download pics to the computers). We were the only ones on the beach for a good hour. On our way back up to the parking lot, we saw about 40-45 people on their way down. Waking up early has its benefits!

Apparently there is an American movie being filmed in Cathedral Cove later this week. The guy was sworn to secrecy but gave us a hint: “Texas.” I guess we’ll find out sometime what it is!

Back to the holiday park to shower, and we’re off!

  1. I tried calling your cell phone today, but the call wasn’t going through. Thought you would want to know. The number I had was: 011 64 021462926. Snowed about 4-6″ last night. A real powdery snow that was light as a feather. So I bet you’re laughing at us with your “cool” shades and sleek swimwear. Hummmphh!

  2. Jonathan watch what you say, this blog could be on the internet for years, and you are quoted as saying “Waking up early has its benefits!” Oh no, you could get marked as, dare I say, A Morning Person. Have fun Jess and Jonathan, I can not wait to see the pics.

  3. Despite popular opinion, waking up early does not actually offer “benefits”. You are missing out on the late night lifestyle, like grocery shopping at 9:30pm. No lines. No teenagers.

  4. I’m thinking “Texas” is a standard answer to all questions from Yanks. I suspect it’s Chronicles of Narnia. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.cfm?c_id=200&objectid=10422515&ref=rss

  5. My guess is “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. Don’t mess with Burt and Dolly.

  6. Love the flora dets, any fauna around? Kiwis (as in the bird) or other endemic critters? perhaps a Maori?

  7. Hi folks
Aunt Sarah told me about your journey, hope you don’t mind. Great to hear you’re enjoying the delights of Aotearoa on your honeymoon. Congratulations on your recent nuptuals too. If you’re coming to Australia and you’ll be anywhere near Melbourne, I’d love to buy you a drink. I’ll keep my eye on your progress. Cheers
